Below is a list of key organisations that have been identified as being able to support the needs of farmers and the rural community.

Mental Health Support:

NHS 111 – Option 2

If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, dial 111 and selection option 2 for support.


Bassetlaw Action Centre

Bassetlaw Action Centre offers a range of help and support which includes, Walk and Talk sessions for Men, Women and mixed groups, promoting the independence of older and vulnerable people and supporting individuals with long term conditions.


TalkZone

Confidential mental health support and counselling services for children and young people aged 11-25 in Bassetlaw.


Nottinghamshire Crisis Sanctuaries

A free service which offers support information and guidance to anyone aged 18+ in or nearing a mental health crisis. The Sanctuaries team is ready to listen and waiting to hear from you. Open: 4pm-11pm, 365 days a year. A walk-in service is available in Worksop.


Men on the edge @ Oasis

Men on the Edge provides a range of support for men in crisis. Drop-in cafe, workshops, counselling and advice for men. Support is available for those suffering suicidal thoughts as well as male survivors of sexual and domestic abuse.


Nottinghamshire Mind

Mind provides one-to-one and group mental health support encouraging community connectivity and improving wellbeing.


In Sam’s Name

Mental health support group in North Nottinghamshire for men who have either been through a challenging time or are currently going through one. In Sam’s Name encourages men to speak out and the groups give them the chance to speak in confidence to one another, finding strength and peer support.


Kooth

Free, anonymous counselling and emotional wellbeing service for young people aged 11-25 which can be accessed immediately using a computer, smartphone or table device. Kooth provides support and guidance for local people whenever they need it.


Muddy Fork

Muddy Fork helps people to improve their wellbeing and mental health through volunteer conservation and wildlife gardening in Retford. It helps people to change their lives step-by-step doing useful work with the supportive company, surrounded by nature in the Muddy Fork garden.


Bassetlaw Community and Voluntary Service

Provide a range of services and guidance including the social prescribing link worker service. Anyone in Bassetlaw can get support from a link worker to get help accessing the services they need. Volunteering opportunities are also available.


Farming/Agricultural Specific Support

Riders Minds

Bespoke organisation dedicated to supporting the mental health and well-being of all horse riders, drivers and equestrians.


FCN have a network of over 400 volunteers across England and Wales, many of whom are involved in farming, or have close links with agriculture, and therefore have a great understanding of the issues that farmers, farm workers and farming families regularly face. 


Financial Support & Advice

Citizen’s Advice North Nottinghamshire

A wide range of support can be accessed by anyone needing specialist support for debt, employment issues, eligibility and help to claim welfare benefits for health/low income situations, crisis support, and problems relating to energy bills.

LGBTQ+ Support

LGBT+ Service Nottinghamshire

Provides specialist one-to-one and group services for children and young people aged 11-25, who identify as LGBTQ+, or may be questioning this, and their families.


Stonewall

Stonewall stand for lesbian, gay, bi, trans, queer, questioning and ace (LGBTQ+) people everywhere.

They imagine a world where all LGBTQ+ people are free to be themselves and can live their lives to the full.


Fitness

BPL Community Health

A 12-week programme supporting mental health and wellbeing tailored around any health related conditions. Access the scheme by speaking to any healthcare professional who will refer your to a BPL leisure centre.


Cancer

Aurora offer a holistic approach to cancer support, and look at emotional and physical wellbeing, as well as beauty treatments and therapies to help improve health outcomes. If you are a patient, family member, carer or friend, they can help.
